A beautifully secluded, peaceful cottage situated up a track in the forest high above Loch Tummel and the Queens View with its spectacular vistas across the Loch to the hills beyond, yet only 6 miles from Pitlochry.
The cottage was originally built by the Canadians after the war when they were planting what is now known as Allean Forest. You can walk straight out of the garden into the forest with its miles of woodland tracks which run the length of Loch Tummel giving glimpses around every corner of the Loch, equally beautiful in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Pitlochry has everything you could need in a holiday base, well known for its Festival Theatre as well as golf, fishing, rafting and even, new this year, bungee jumping off the spectacular Garry Bridge just up the road.
Allean Forest is situated in the centre of Scotland only 4 miles from the A9 giving easy access to explore the Highlands, the West and East Coasts as well as Edinburgh and Glasgow which are only an hour and a halfs drive.
However there is plenty of interest locally. Loch Rannoch with its remote railway station from where you can walk over to the west coast, Loch Tay and Ben Lawers, Dunkeld with its Cathedral, Schiehallion (the Fairy Mountain), Glen Lyon – the longest glen in Scotland and even the ski areas of Glenshee are only an hours drive away.
A wonderful base for walking, mountain biking and fishing (permits available) or you might spend a whole week relaxing in the peace and quiet of the cottage and its garden, complete with hammock and forest beyond.
The cottage has been newly refurbished with oak flooring and a hand made kitchen and as it faces due south the sun streams into the kitchen and sitting room making them bright and warm while the woodburner keeps it cosy in the chilliest of weather.
Outside is a covered area with a large table and chairs making an outside BBQ and eating area even if the weather is not so good!
On arrival you will find a homemade cake together with a welcome hamper including tea, coffee, bread, butter and jam and as the owner works in the local Deli this can extend to any other goodies you would like www.scottish-deli.co.uk including an extensive range of hand cut cheeses, meats, olives etc. The Deli also specialises in home cooked, frozen ready meals so your freezer can also be stocked to make your holiday as restful as possible! Alternatively if you come back from a day out in Oban with fresh lobsters and crabs there is a pot large enough to cook them!
All in all the “pink cottage in the forest” is the perfect away from it all holiday cottage. The peace and quiet of the location and the beauty of its surroundings will truly feed your soul and revitalise you.
