A little gem, in an area full of surprises - great eating, drinking and walking experiences all on your doorstep! A lovely, comfortable home!
This cottage was so charming! I stayed with my parents and we absolutely loved it! Birnam is an adorable, quiet town and we really enjoyed exploring/grabbing a bite to eat over in Dunkeld which was just a short walk away. The cottage is also right next to the train station and bus stop which was very convenient for traveling around since we didn’t have a car. We took the train up to Inverness for a day trip and down to Stirling the next day and both trips were quick with lovely scenery the whole way! The cottage itself was wonderful. We really enjoyed the wood burning stove, especially after a long day out in the cold and I loved the beautiful garden out back.
Really enjoyed my stay at Hollyhock - it’s been a long time since I’ve been in the area and was hugely surprised as to how much was going on! I must have had good time, as I’ve booked again twice for June!
A lovely cosy cottage with a perfect setting. We really enjoyed walking 10 mins into Dunkeld for dinner at The Atholl Arms and discovering all the local walks, like the Hermitage and the banks of the Tay to Birnam Oak. We saw ospreys at Loch of the Lowes and visited the Crannog centre. Loved coming back to the cottage and relaxing in front of the wood burner! Great wee escape!
A lovely, well presented cottage in an amazingly handy spot! Great walks for man & dog and plenty of facilities right in your doorstep! A very comfortable and enjoyable place to be!
Our stay at Hollyhock Cottage was wonderful and gave us a great opportunity to relax, recharge our batteries and prepare for the run into the festive season. The cottage is beautifully appointed and was spotlessly clean. The Christmas decorations were a lovely touch. We were warm and cosy throughout, despite the freezing conditions outside. It’s a lovely 15 minute walk along the river to Dunkeld which has a charm all of its own. We were delighted that so many places we visited were dog-friendly and the scenery in that area is just stunning. Fab holiday, we would love to return.
Don’t miss out on this gem of a cottage in a fantastic location. It’s a very well equipped cottage with a lovely garden area. It’s a very comfortable place to stay and the log burner made the cottage very cosy in the evening. Has the most wonderful shower, comfy bed and has a small but perfectly equipped kitchen with everything you need including washing machine, dishwasher and a coffee machine. The owners attention to detail is second to none with clever storage ideas and hanging hooks galore! You can never get enough hooks! A short walk takes you down by the river and into bustling Dunkeld with lovely shops and a few nice places to eat, drink or stop for coffee. We will most definitely be returning in the near future.
“Such a well equipped, comfortable and cosy cottage… truly a home from home and the garden was the most wonderful surprise! Very quiet and peaceful at all times of the day. The cottage was within a short walking distance of bustling Dunkeld and there were of plenty walking opportunities down by the river. We enjoyed exploring the area by car and by foot…. Most definitely would return to this area and no reason whatsoever not to book Hollyhock Cottage again. We found it to be a very relaxing place to stay…”
We had a fantastic stay - a well appointed and cosy cottage in a great location. We really enjoyed walking from Birnam to Dunkeld for a drink and meal in the evening! Thanks!
This is a fabulous cottage, very well equipped! We loved the area, enjoyed walking by the river, golf at Dunkeld, we even drove to see Nessie! Lovely food in the Atholl Arms by the river, all helped by the sunshine.
Hi Bea,just wanted to say I had a brilliant time at cottage at the end of September, wish I could of stayed longer.Lovely cozy cottage had everything I wanted and more hope to stay again.Just great to have so many lovely walks from the cottage and Birnam is great for shops got local honey from post office, pizza takeaway from Birnam Inn and the fabulous Brownies from Little Birnam kitchen delivered to the door. Dunkeld is also great for food and shops and sitting by the river in the church grounds with carry out coffee and sandwiches. It felt like a complete escape from everything that is going at moment a real gem, many thanks
Fantastic cottage! Couldn't ask for more!! Even with the madness of Covid, still a wonderful stay. Dunkeld is a beautiful part of the country. Dogs welcome everywhere! Thank you.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hollyhock Cottage, it is exactly how it looks and is described on the website. It is in the ideal location for accessing all of the local walks and beauty spots without the need to drive. The local facilities in Birnam are brilliant and thanks to the info in the folder we discovered the takeaway pizzas at the Inn and the Facebook post led us to the Chattan Tea rooms where we had lunch and coffees and scones!
This is the second year my parents have stayed in this flat. It is warm, cosy, comfortable and clean...a real home from home!
Thanks Bea, beautiful cottage, super location and fantastic for our wee doggy !
“Charming place with a homely feel in a lovely part of the country. Great outdoor area to enjoy the sunshine and a stones throw from lots of scenic options to hike and explore”
“Great stay in a lovely spot, especially enjoyed the outdoor area. Lovely quirky finish to the house and had a nice homely feel. Enjoyed having so many great walks on the doorstep. Thank you!” Leanne and friends
This property is superb. Exactly what we wanted. It would be beyond perfect if slightly closer to the Dunkeld bridge, but can’t complain about that. No issues with weather, so the walk was no more than a pleasant stroll each time. Very much hope to stay here next time in the area, probably next spring.
Great little cottage which is spotlessly clean, excellent facilities in a great location, we loved our short break with our 2 cocker spaniels
This property is spotlessly clean, has many useful and attractive features, and is well-located for walks nearby and exploring Perthshire by car. Parking is ample. The interior is efficiently and clever organized, something that becomes increasingly noticeable after a day or so. Definitely worth a second visit—soon.
“Gorgeous property with so many little touches that make it such a great home from home. Comfortable, amazingly well looked after home that I can’t recommend enough to anybody to stay in. Great location as well!”
“Thanks for letting us stay in such a gorgeous property and for your help booking it all with only a few days notice. Thanks again and we can’t wait to stay again.”
Lovely cottage with everything thought about - really stylish and a great location
A fantastic wee hoose! Everything we could have wanted. A perfect safe space for our wee Pudsey, a dog who likes to explore. The cottage's location is ideal for exploring the area. We shall be back!
Absolutely loved Hollyhock Cottage, wonderfully decorated and fully equipped. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay ! Can I ensure that anytime I stay in the area again that it is available!! Thank you for allowing me to stay.
We have had an amazing stay in your wonderful cottage. Birnam and Dunkeld truly are picturesque. We would surely come again.
What a fantastic cottage, felt just like home! Everything you need in a house has been provided for a comfortable, relaxed stay.
Our second time here and it was just how we remembered it. The cottage was clean and crisp as the first time we stayed. Excellent location for exploring the nearby areas and perfect for getting away from it all. See you again next year!
Hollyhock cottage is charming and has everything you could need for a trip! It is dog friendly and our miniature schnauzer had a whale of a time exploring the lovely garden (and its nooks and crannies) and close to the riverside walk going into Dunkeld (which also has lots of dog friendly places). Would not hesitate to recommend.
We had a lovely time in Hollyhock Cottage which was a charming space.
Fantastic cottage, secluded with panoramic views. Extremely clean and tidy with everything we needed provided. Very friendly helpful hosts. Would definitely book again. Thank you
such a beautiful, warm and welcoming cottage. it has everything you might need for a comfortable stay. the garden was lovely as well, and I think the bed is the best bed I've ever slept in in my life :) couldn't recommend this enough!
A fantastic 'wee hoose'!! Everything we could want and some we'd never thought of. A perfect, safe space for our wee Pudsey, a dog who likes to explore. We shall be back! Pat, John & Pudsey the dog, Stoke-on-Trent
We had a wonderful visit at Hollyhock Cottage. We had everything we needed, thank you. The kids loved the stash of toys and games! We all had a fun time exploring the area and we were even treated to six straight days of beautiful, hot weather! It's always like this right? Kirstie, Kirk, Nancy, Elliot and Hazel, Canada.
What a fantastic break we have had! Your cottage is warm, welcoming, comfortable and has everything you could possibly need for a short-stay, long-stay, forever! On our walk to Birnam Hill, we strolled through Beatrice Potter Garden- a super place for children of all ages. Birnam Hill is a great walk- approx 1-1.30 hrs to the top. We did see some beautiful sights on the ascend. The food is also lovely at the Atholl Arms, some great little shops in Dunkeld too, don't miss the pottery shop in the square! Thank you for a wonderful break.
Super, smashing, great! Splendid accommodation; everything has been provided. Warm and comfortable. The walk up to Birnam Hill provided us with magnificent views. We visited the Atholl Arms and the Taybank, which both serve real ale, a bonus! Thanks for such an opportunity for a welcome break after Christmas. Mike, Yvonne & Stan
