Ruggles is a well equipped accommodation with a period feel to the main room, high ceilings and circular stair al add to this with the fireplace and large stove setting of the room and offering a lovely central feature and indeed warmth in the winter months. The new year dancing and music on the main street on New year’s day is always fun. Great restaurants and bars near at hand always have a wonderful atmosphere. "

Ruggles Cottage

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Ruggles over the New Year period. The house is very cosy in the cold Scottish winter, and plenty of logs and coal were provided so that we could keep the fire going whenever we were at home. The beds were very comfortable and the showers in both bathrooms worked very well. The kitchen was well provisioned for making meals. The location of Ruggles is stunning with some beautiful walks straight out of the front door. A particularly nice touch was the bag of monkey nuts that was provided – we put some out on the feeders opposite the front door and were almost immediately rewarded with the sight of a red squirrel coming to eat them. This was our second trip to Ruggles and we’ll almost certainly be coming again. "

We really enjoyed our time at the Auld Smiddy Cottage. The bedrooms were perfect for our family of 5, and we liked being able to have a fire in the fireplace. It was also really nice to have two bathrooms. We also liked being able to stay in a house that was built in 1860-we loved the character of the home.
