CLOSE

While Perthshire is has many small towns that are well known tourist destinations there are many more less known villages with wonderful stories and landscapes, ideal for the visitor looking for the less beaten track.

Stanley was built in the 1780's to house the workers at Stanley Mills, now a museum to the industrial revolution.

Places to eat

In the heart of stanley itself is modern restaurant Blasta, restaurant owner and head chef David Barnett has a wealth of experience and before opening his own restaurant and take away in Stanley, he was once the executive chef of Fonab Castle Hotel.

A short distance away from stanley is Usiage bar and restaurant, with a cosy, relaxed atmosphere and offering both indoor and outdoor seating for dining or cocktails.

Don't Miss; Fortingall

Fortingall is home to the Fortingall Yew, thoe oldest tree in Europe, and a tragic story of a villagle that died to save others fromthe Plague. It is also home the the annual Fortingall Art Exhibition which we highly recommend if you are visiting at the end of July.

Guest Reviews

We had a lovely 5 day stay at Northshore, great little house, well equipped, clean and bright with a super garden (enclosed) with direct access to the forest and loch. The town centre is a short walk from the house, we didn’t use the car once as everything we wanted was within walking distance. Thanks again

Wonderful accommodation with amazing views. Great walks on the doorstep. Perfect, just wish we had longer!

We stay at this cottage at least twice a year. It's like a home from home and it was immaculately clean.
